EDRAK is an emerging Egyptian independent software vendor (ISV) offering custom software applications development, software services development, business and technical consultancy.

What is the meaning of EDRAK?

In Arabic, the Word EDRAK may refer to two different meanings, both meanings were intended when we were choosing the company’s name.

1.  Reaching, Catching up or Closing a gap:
   
   Under this meaning, we meant by EDRAK that we are aware of the gap between the current state of the software industry in Egypt specially and the Muslim world in general, and the state of software in other parts of the world. With very few companies and personnel with a real knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices, and less people and companies able to apply things they know in their projects, the software industry in Egypt and the Muslim world is lagging the software industry worldwide with very long distance. We hope to be a company that helps in decreasing that gap and catch up with the best practices used in great software organization worldwide, and help other companies to do the same.

2.  Intellectual skills of apprehension, comprehension, perception, awareness and realization:
   
   Here we meant by the word EDRAK, To refer to the fact that intellectual skills are the base of our industry, where any piece of software is a collection of thoughts, ideas and mechanisms mapped into ordered code and computer instructions. ….

We intend and hope to be a place where software engineering best practices in people management, software design and project life cycle are applied. In an industry where the developers are the key point in the success or failure of a project, we hope to ensure an environment that attracts best developers, makes them feel they like to work at, and allows them to innovate with no bounds of bad management or unhealthy practices.

 On the business side we hope to be a key player in the software market, with applications that push the business cycles of organizations ahead and turn their business needs into pieces of software.

We hope that one day we will represent an example to be followed for success in software industry and a source of knowledge for developers and managers and a strong addition to the Egyptian and Muslim world economy.

EDRAK's Symbol:   

Our symbol is an abstract drawing for a human brain. Since software development is mainly an intellectual process and since the brain is the responsible for this intellectual process, we chose the brain to be our symbol.
